                  COVID 19 UPDATE

I am continuing to offer a guided wildlife watching service but with a few changes in order to meet the Scottish Govt's Covid 19 safety requirements :-

In order to maintain social distancing regulations I am unable to transport guests in my vehicle.

I am asking guests to follow me between birding locations in their own vehicle.

Some of the best birding locations are relatively close to each other and I will plan to reduce the amount of driving and look to spend as much time out of the vehicles as possible.

I can provide you with an easy to use two way 'walkie talkie' radio, so that we can chat between locations and I can point out wildlife and points of interest whilst en route.

I am unable to offer a tea, coffee and cake service, so you'll need to bring your own !

The locations I choose have easy parking and allow us to maintain the two metre social distancing rule.

A guided day out is exclusive to you and your family or members of your social bubble.

Because of the restrictions in place I now charge a flat fee of £140 for a full guided day out.

Welcome to Cairngorms Birding.

My name is Simon Pawsey and I am a professional birdwatching and wildlife guide leading fully guided birdwatching trips within the Cairngorms National Park, in the Highlands of Scotland.

The Cairngorms are home to some of our most iconic and celebrated wildlife. Birds such as Golden and White-tailed eagles, Crested Tit, Dotterel, Ptarmigan, Black and Red-throated Divers, Slavonian Grebe and Capercaillie, to name but a few, can all be found in and around the Cairngorms.

Add to this the chance of seeing some of our most enigmatic mammals such as Red Deer, Otter, Pine Marten, Red Squirrel and Mountain Hare and it becomes clear that this is an area unique in the United Kingdom.

These animals exist here because of a range of specialised habitats. From the tundra like plateau of the Cairngorm mountains, to the last stands of Caledonian Scots Pine forests, the Cairngorms is a wild land full of natural wonder, expectation and possibility.

It's not surprising that the BBC Springwatch team have decided to base themselves in the Cairngorms to broadcast their popular 'watch' series of programmes throughout 2019.

The Cairngorms National Park is a perfect base from which to explore the Moray and north-eastern coastlines which are a short drive away. With nationally important numbers of wintering sea duck such as Long-tailed Duck, Velvet Scoter and Greater Scaup arriving in the autumn, together with vast flocks of Pink-footed Geese and thousands of wintering waders, the birding possibilities can seem limitless.

Factor in the allure of watching Bottle-nosed Dolphins hunting migratory atlantic salmon metres from the shoreline off Chanonry Point in the Moray Firth and it becomes apparent that a guided birdwatching trip with me in and around the Cairngorms is a truly memorable experience.

" Just WOW ! What an amazing day. Thank you so much. We both really enjoyed our time with you and the birds you helped us to connect with. The highlight was the eagles, I didn't expect to get both within fifteen minutes."
